CEO Mark Zuckerberg will also conduct another Facebook Live conversation with infectious disease expert and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Anthony Fauci, scheduled for 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET Thursday (June 16).
The social network said in its ongoing Newsroom post covering all things pandemic-related that it has connected over 2 billion people to resources from health authorities via its Coronavirus (Covid-19) Information Center and pop-ups on Facebook and Instagram, with more than 600 million people clicking through to learn more.
Facebook users have also raised over $100 million for Covid-19-related fundraisers on Facebook and Instagram, with more than one-half of those donations under $25.
The social network said the Facts About Covid-19 section will debunk common myths that have been identified by the World Health Organization, such as drinking bleach or taking hydroxychloroquine preventing the coronavirus.
And Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post, “Tomorrow (Thursday) at 2 p.m. PT, I’m going live with Dr. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, to discuss the U.S.’ response to Covid, what we need to do next to stop the virus from spreading and how close we are to a vaccine. I’m grateful for Dr. Fauci’s leadership and looking forward to hearing from him. Please let me know in the comments below if there’s a topic you’d like to hear about.”
