we can now clearly see the total reach our page has based off these likes. In other words, “Friends of Fans.”
“People Talking About This” is the number of unique people who have created content about your page on Facebook in the past week
“Weekly Total Reach” is the actual number of people who have seen that content, which is aggregated by adding all the people (“friends”) each shared post has reached.
upgraded graph that shows how individual posts influence the number of people talking about you, as well as the impact it has on the overall reach.
This tool can you help you evaluate what types of offers are performing well on Facebook, giving you insight into what your fans actually want. You can then post offers catering to that to more efficiently earn social media leads.
While Facebook previously included a breakdown of the demographics, these statistics were subjected to those who have ‘liked’ your page. You can now further analyze the structure of two additional populations: people reached and people talking about this.
Marketing Takeaway: Dive into your Facebook insights to figure out what content is working the best for your business.

Timing Matters
http://www.webinknow.com/2011/11/qantas-airways-twitter-fail.html
Quantas Airlines started a new Twitter contest this week by Tweeting “To enter, tell us What is you dream luxury inflight experience? Answer must include #QuantasLuxury
In the past month, Qantas had faced a major strike, which grounded the fleet and has experienced ongoing disputes with the unions that represent pilots, mechanics, baggage handlers, and caterers.
The travelling public was greatly inconvenienced during this period of turmoil and cancelled flights.
@Ivalaine: #qantasluxury having your bags “misplaced” not just at arrival after 28 hours of travel. but then “misplacing” them again when you get home
@2FBS: #QantasLuxury is dressing your staff in t-shirts that say “We’re Sorry” and believing that makes up for missing a friends funeral.
@mrpaulb: #QantasLuxury is having gold plated taps in the bathroom where some poor qantaspr person is throwing up right now
Marketing Takeaway:
1) Timing is important. If you are dealing with sensitive corporate issues, you should think carefully before implementing a fun campaign.
2) When you offer people a chance to use a Twitter hashtag, they will. But you don?t have any control over what they say. You need to be prepared for negativity.
