It was only a year ago that Iggy Pop narrated a darkly humorous campaign about why we all needed to get out to the beach as soon as possible. But it feels like a century ago that sunny vacations on crowded shores even felt like an impossibility.
Now the elder statesman of punk is back for booking site On the Beach in its newest spot from agency Uncommon. This time, Pop describes the relatable litany of sacrifices we all had to make in 2020 as quarantines and lockdowns stretched on indefinitely.
Rather than lingering on images of apartment-bound Brits who had to cancel their plans, the spot instead shows a near-ish future in which we can all responsibly gather again.
Pops’ relationship with Uncommon began when the London agency’s founder, Nils Leonard, interviewed the singer on stage at the Cannes Lions in 2016.
