Week two of the 2020 National Football League season kicks off Thursday night with the Cincinnati Bengals visiting the Cleveland Browns, and Twitter shared some highlights on its platform from the campaign’s first week.
The social network said it had the most NFL video views among all social platforms for week one, including highlights and interviews, 23% more than the runner-up.
Twitter saw a 34.4% rise in video views during the first week of the season compared with the same week in 2019, and a 71.9% jump in uploads.
The social network said 82% more advertisers participated in its NFL Amplify sponsorship program than in the opening week of the 2019 season, and 70% of the top 20 participating advertisers were new NFL advertisers this year.
Twitter also shared data from research conducted last month, saying:
- 93% of NFL fans plan to use Twitter as much or more than before Covid-19, and 78% plan to use Twitter more frequently during the season.
- 70% of Twitter users feel that being on the social network brings atmosphere and excitement to sports, and that number climbs to 80% among NFL fans.
- 74% believe Twitter helps make up for what they are missing by being unable to attend live sports events or watch them at bars, and this goes for 81% of NFL fans.
