It’s not everyday you see Elvis Presley driving a bunch of impersonators around in a Fiat car–but that’s what Leo Burnett Brazil has him doing in its latest spot for the brand.
Whether he’d swap his famous pink Cadillac for a pickup is definitely up for debate. But in this spot, Elvis, who is played by popular impersonator Dean Z, performs a show and then leaves in a Fiat Strada.
The likeness, with the help of CGI, is pretty spot on, and the ad shows Elvis taking some impersonators along for a ride through a variety of cinematic backgrounds, all the while driving to the rhythm of “Blue Suede Shoes.”
It was shot in February in Brazil before the pandemic reached the country, and the production involved more than 600 people, three locations and six shooting dates.
“In order to recreate Elvis, we worked hard for many months, adapting, perfecting, and evolving,” said Leo Burnett creative director Tomas Correa. “It’s an intense effort that is only possible when client, agency, and production house speak the same language.”
